CONDITIONS OF OBTAINING STUDENT RESIDENCE PERMIT
1. Introduction
Many foreign nationals prefer Turkey to complete their education. The fact that the quality of education is higher than other countries and the cost rates are reasonable, the leading reasons for foreign nationals to continue their education life in Turkey.
Foreign students must follow the legal procedure that will allow them to stay legally in Turkey, which we call residence permit, in order to receive associate, undergraduate, graduate or doctoral education in a higher education institution in Turkey. In other words, if a foreign student does not have any other legal right to stay, he or she needs a residence permit to stay legally in Turkey.
2. Requirements
There are a number of other requirements that foreign students must follow. In this respect, in order to obtain a residence permit, as applied to other types of residence permits, the existence of a passport which validity has not expired and the existence of a health insurance valid in Turkey on behalf of the student are the prior conditions for obtaining a student residence permit. In addition, the foreign student is required to present the information and documents proving his/her education, not to be within the scope of foreigners who will not be allowed to enter Turkey, and to submit the address information he/she will stay in Turkey.

4. After Obtaining a Residence Permit
In addition, there are some obligations that foreign students should pay attention after obtaining a residence permit. Accordingly, if there is any change in personal information (marital status, address, passport information, etc.) after obtaining a residence permit, the foreign student must notify the Directorate of Migration Management within 20 (twenty) business days following the change. In addition, if a foreign student makes a passport change, he/she must notify the Directorate of Migration Management within 20 (twenty) business days.
5. Working Permission for Students
Another issue of concern is the right to work of foreign students. Foreign students can work provided that they obtain a work permit, but the right to work for associate and undergraduate students starts after the first year. Work permit applications are made to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
